End-to-end encryption explained
End-to-end encryption means your messages are scrambled on your device and only unscrambled on the device you sent them to.
What it protects
- Nobody in between can read the contents — not your network, and not us.
- The keys that unlock your messages live on your devices, not on our servers.
What it does not do
- It cannot protect a message once it is on an unlocked phone.
- It does not hide the fact that two people are talking.
- It does not stop someone screenshotting what you sent.
